Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS is a large academic medical centre and teaching hospital located on the Gemelli Hill in the Trionfale district of Rome, Italy. Founded in 1964 and affiliated with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, it holds IRCCS status — a designation conferred by the Italian Ministry of Health on institutions that combine high-quality patient care with scientific research of national relevance. The hospital also holds Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. With approximately 8,000 staff and more than 1,500 beds, Gemelli operates as a full-service tertiary and quaternary referral centre, covering cardiology and cardiac surgery, oncology through its Comprehensive Cancer Center (IRCCS), organ transplantation, orthopaedics, neuroscience, maternal-foetal medicine, and a wide range of surgical subspecialties.
