Chang Gung Memorial Hospital — Linkou

Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Linkou Branch, located in Taoyuan City roughly 30 minutes from Taipei, is the flagship campus of the Chang Gung Medical Foundation network and ranks among the largest hospitals in Asia, operating more than 3,700 inpatient beds. Founded in 1976 by industrialist Wang Yung-ching, it has grown into a comprehensive academic medical centre affiliated with Chang Gung University. The hospital is internationally recognised for its liver transplantation programme, which holds among the highest volume records globally for living-donor procedures, and for its craniofacial surgery unit under the legacy of Professor Samuel Noordhoff. Additional centres of excellence include oncology, cardiology, reconstructive microsurgery, and organ transplantation across kidney and heart. Joint Commission International accreditation, first awarded in 2008 and subsequently renewed, confirms adherence to rigorous patient safety and quality standards. An International Medical Centre provides dedicated support for overseas patients, offering English- and Japanese-language coordination, insurance liaison, and appointment facilitation. Taiwan's National Health Insurance is accepted, and several major international private insurers have direct-billing arrangements. The campus includes a modern trauma and emergency department and a burn centre that receives regional referrals from across East and Southeast Asia.
