Sudan
SDNSudan is a large north-east African country bordered by Egypt, Libya, Chad, the Central African Republic, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea. Since April 2023 the country has been in a devastating civil war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), causing one of the world's largest displacement crises — an estimated 10–12 million people internally displaced and millions more as refugees by 2025. Khartoum and Darfur have suffered severe destruction. State institutions, banking, and public services are severely disrupted. The Sudanese pound has collapsed. Sudan is not a viable relocation or residency destination under current conditions. This profile is maintained solely for nationality cross-reference purposes — for example as regional context for Eritrean, Ethiopian, and South Sudanese nationals.

Common Risks
- ⚠Currency exchange scams exploiting black-market rate confusion amid hyperinflation
- ⚠Fake humanitarian-aid checkpoint extortion targeting displaced civilians
- ⚠Fraudulent property rental schemes targeting returnees seeking housing post-conflict
Examples of areas to avoid: Khartoum proper — active frontline combat between SAF and RSF since April 2023; most neighbourhoods uninhabitable, Omdurman — heavy urban fighting and RSF occupation of residential areas throughout 2023-2024, Darfur region (El Fasher, El Geneina, Zalingei) — ongoing mass-atrocity violence, siege conditions, and ethnic targeting by RSF, North Kordofan (El Obeid surroundings) — contested territory with frequent artillery and air strikes
