🇸🇰 Pet Import to Slovakia
Slovakia applies the standard EU pet movement framework: pets must be microchipped prior to their rabies vaccination, hold a valid EU pet passport (for EU-origin pets) or an EU animal health certificate (for pets from outside the EU), and observe the mandatory 21-day wait after a first-time rabies vaccination before travel. No quarantine applies to compliant pets moving from other EU or EU-listed countries. The most frequent failure points are the reversed order of microchipping and vaccination (which invalidates the vaccination for pet-passport purposes), and third-country pets arriving without the required rabies antibody titer test and subsequent three-month wait when coming from unlisted countries. As a Schengen member with open internal EU borders, Slovakia rarely conducts routine checks on intra-EU pet travel, but non-compliant animals discovered at any point can still be denied entry or quarantined.
