🇫🇮 Pet Import to Finland

Finland applies EU Pet Travel Regulation (EU) No 576/2013. Pets from other EU states need an EU Pet Passport, ISO microchip implanted before vaccination, and a rabies vaccine at least 21 days old, with no quarantine required. Non-EU arrivals from unlisted countries must present a FAVN rabies titer test (≥0.5 IU/ml) taken 30 days after vaccination, followed by a 3-month wait, plus an official health certificate. Like Ireland, Malta, and the UK, Finland requires dogs (not cats) entering directly from most countries to receive tapeworm treatment shortly before arrival, a step travelers frequently overlook.

Finnair and other carriers serving Helsinki permit small pets in cabin under standard EU weight limits; larger dogs travel as cargo. Finland additionally requires tapeworm treatment documentation for dogs arriving directly from outside a small group of low-risk countries.
