Queen Mary Hospital

Queen Mary Hospital (QMH) is Hong Kong's principal public teaching hospital, situated on Pokfulam Road on Hong Kong Island and operated under the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. Affiliated with the University of Hong Kong Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, QMH serves as a major regional referral centre for complex cases across specialties including cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, oncology, and hepatology. The hospital is internationally recognised for its liver transplant programme, which pioneered adult-to-adult living-donor liver transplantation in Asia. QMH operates approximately 1,800 beds and runs specialist outpatient clinics that see hundreds of thousands of attendances each year. An International Medical Services Centre caters to overseas and private patients, offering dedicated patient coordinators and multilingual support in Cantonese, English, and Mandarin. While QMH does not hold JCI accreditation, it adheres to the Hong Kong Hospital Authority's quality framework and participates in international clinical benchmarking. Medical costs for international patients are set at private rates; Hong Kong permanent residents access subsidised public tariffs. The hospital campus also houses the Hong Kong Jockey Club Clinical Research Centre and supports active post-graduate medical training.
