IMU (Imposta Municipale Unica)

Real Estate Tax

Italy's annual municipal property tax, levied on second homes, vacant land, and any dwelling that isn't a qualifying prima casa (primary, non-luxury residence). Each comune sets its own rate, typically 0.46%–1.06% of cadastral value, so foreign owners of Italian holiday property generally owe full IMU year-round.
