Tajikistan
TJKTajikistan is a landlocked Central Asian republic bordering Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The Pamir Mountains cover more than 90 percent of the country, making it the most mountainous nation in Central Asia. Dushanbe is the capital and economic hub. The country has one of the lowest costs of living in the region, with a GDP heavily reliant on aluminium exports, remittances from Russia, and cotton production. Tajik and Russian are the official working languages. The government is authoritarian in character; dual citizenship is not recognised, and naturalisation requires five years of lawful permanent residence. English proficiency is minimal outside urban and academic circles. The Tajik passport offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to roughly 60 destinations.
