Solomon Islands

The Solomon Islands is a Melanesian archipelago of nearly 1,000 islands in the southwestern Pacific, home to one of the most linguistically diverse populations on Earth. The economy relies on timber exports, fishing licence fees, and subsistence agriculture, with remittances and aid playing supporting roles. Infrastructure outside Honiara is sparse, and healthcare capacity is limited. The country navigated significant internal tensions in the early 2000s before stabilising with regional assistance. A 2022 security agreement with China attracted regional attention. Naturalisation requires ten years of lawful residence, and dual citizenship is not recognised. There is no citizenship-by-investment programme and no special tax regime for foreign residents.
