COGThe Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) sits on the equator in Middle Africa, separated from the much larger Democratic Republic of the Congo by the Congo River. Its economy is heavily dependent on oil exports, which account for the majority of government revenues and export earnings. French is the official language, with Lingala and Kituba widely spoken. Brazzaville, the capital, faces Kinshasa across the river in one of the world's closest capital-city pairs. Dual citizenship is not recognised under Congolese law, and naturalisation requires ten years of continuous lawful residence. The Congolese passport offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to roughly 46 destinations, primarily within Africa and the CEMAC bloc.
