Malawi
MWIMalawi is a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, bordered by Zambia, Tanzania, and Mozambique, with Lake Malawi covering roughly a fifth of its surface area. Lilongwe is the capital and Blantyre the commercial centre. The economy is predominantly agricultural, with tobacco, tea, and sugar as leading exports. English is an official language alongside Chichewa, making basic communication accessible for expatriates.
The Malawian passport grants visa-free or on-arrival access to around 65 destinations. Malawi does not recognise dual citizenship and has no citizenship-by-investment scheme. Naturalisation requires seven years of continuous lawful residence. Poverty levels remain high, but the country is regarded as one of the safer nations in sub-Saharan Africa, with a welcoming population and growing eco-tourism sector centred on Lake Malawi.
