Permanent Residency

immigration

Permanent residency is a status that allows a foreign national to reside indefinitely in a country without holding citizenship. Permanent residents typically enjoy most of the rights of citizens, including the right to work and access social services, but usually cannot vote or hold certain government positions. The status is distinct from citizenship and can in most cases be revoked under specific circumstances such as prolonged absence or criminal conviction. Many permanent residency pathways eventually lead to naturalisation if the holder so chooses.
