🇶🇦 Pet Import to Qatar
Qatar has tightened pet import rules in recent years, requiring an import permit secured before travel and, for dogs, compliance with a list of breeds restricted or banned from ownership and import (including breeds perceived as aggressive). Cats and permitted dog breeds must be microchipped and rabies-vaccinated, with an official veterinary health certificate. No blanket quarantine applies to compliant pets, but non-compliant animals or those without pre-approved permits can be quarantined, refused entry, or in worst cases euthanized or returned, which has generated significant public criticism. Common failure points are travelers unaware of the breed restriction list, missing the advance permit, and treating pet transport like ordinary checked baggage rather than the required cargo/manifest process most airlines enforce for live animals into Doha.

Pets generally enter as cargo through Hamad International Airport, and certain dog breeds are restricted from import and public places.
