🇱🇮 Pet Import to Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein, though not an EU member, participates in the Schengen area and is bound by a customs union with Switzerland, and in practice applies EU-equivalent standards for pet movement: an EU Pet Passport or Swiss pet document, ISO microchip implanted before vaccination, and a rabies vaccine at least 21 days old, with no quarantine required for compliant pets. Because the country has no airport of its own, nearly all pets enter overland through Switzerland or Austria, where veterinary checks are typically light for pets already meeting Swiss or EU documentation standards. Non-EU arrivals should still expect full titer-test and waiting-period requirements applied at the Swiss or Austrian border.
Requirements snapshot
- Microchip
- Required (ISO 11784/11785)
- Rabies titer test

Transport
Liechtenstein has no international airport, so pets arrive overland from Switzerland or Austria, or via Zurich or Friedrichshafen airports followed by ground transport. Swiss and EU pet-travel document standards effectively apply at the border.
