🇮🇸 Pet Import to Iceland
Iceland is rabies-free and, unlike most EU and EEA countries, requires an advance import license from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority (MAST) plus a mandatory quarantine period, typically around two weeks, at one of Iceland's licensed quarantine facilities even for pets arriving from other EU countries. Dogs and cats must complete blood testing for rabies antibodies and other diseases well before travel, and space at the quarantine facility must be booked months in advance since capacity is limited. The most common failure point is underestimating Iceland's stricter-than-EU standard and failing to secure a quarantine reservation early enough.
