Hadassah Medical Center — Ein Kerem
Jerusalem, Israel
Hadassah Medical Center — Ein Kerem is a 1,000-bed academic teaching hospital affiliated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, located in the Judean Hills on the southwestern edge of the city. Founded in 1939 and operated by the Hadassah Women's Zionist Organization of America, it is Israel's largest hospital and one of the Middle East's foremost tertiary and quaternary care institutions. The hospital achieved JCI accreditation in 2010 and maintains recognition across a broad clinical portfolio that includes one of the world's highest-volume bone marrow transplant programmes, a nationally designated cancer centre, advanced cardiac surgery, and neurosurgery. Its Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother and Child Center provides dedicated paediatric and reproductive medicine services, while the internationally recognized blood bank and hematology unit has pioneered gene-therapy trials for conditions including sickle-cell disease. International patients, primarily from the United States, Europe, and the Palestinian Authority, benefit from a dedicated international patient coordinator office and comprehensive support in English and Arabic. Israeli nationals and new immigrants (Olim) receive care under the national Kupat Holim health funds. The historic Hadassah Synagogue, housing the Marc Chagall stained-glass windows, sits within the Ein Kerem campus grounds.
