Cape Verde

CPV

Cape Verde is an archipelago of ten volcanic islands off the coast of West Africa, a stable Portuguese-speaking democracy with growing tourism, remittance, and services sectors. Independent since 1975 and a member of the African Union and ECOWAS, the country enjoys one of the stronger governance rankings in Sub-Saharan Africa and maintains close historical and economic ties to Portugal and the wider CPLP (Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries). Cape Verde offers a residency-by-investment pathway that can lead to naturalisation after five years of continuous residence. The Cape Verdean escudo is pegged to the euro, providing monetary stability. Portuguese is the official language of government, education, and formal business; Cape Verdean Creole (Kriolu) is the everyday vernacular. The country levies personal income tax on residents on a worldwide basis at progressive rates.
